In Stock Vector Optics Tauron 4-16x44 HD MIL FFP 34mm Rifle Scope with 10yd Side Focus
Updated 34mm FFP scope with 10yd focus, LaREE HD glass, zero stop and locking windage
The Vector Optics Tauron 4–16x44 HD MIL FFP Rifle Scope combines precision and clarity in a durable design. Its first focal plane VTA-3 MIL reticle with illuminated 0.04 MIL centre dot ensures accurate holdovers and fast target acquisition.
The 1/10 MIL turrets provide precise, tactile adjustments, while the 34mm tube with up to 42 MIL elevation supports long-range shooting. A fully multi-coated HD lens system delivers sharp images, complemented by a zero stop and locking windage turret for dependable performance.
The Vector Optics Tauron 4-16x44 SCFF-79 is the updated version of this versatile FFP scope, designed to bridge the gap between close-range precision shooting and longer-range target work.
One of the most useful changes is its 10-yard to infinity side focus, reduced from 15 yards on the earlier SCFF-45. This makes the new model significantly more practical for air rifle and rimfire shooters while retaining the adjustment range, reticle and optical performance required for longer-distance centrefire shooting.
First Focal Plane VTA-3 MIL Reticle
The etched VTA-3 MIL reticle is positioned in the first focal plane, meaning the reticle scale changes with magnification. MIL holdovers, ranging marks and corrections therefore remain valid throughout the full 4-16x magnification range.
Its fine 0.04 MIL centre dot supports precise aiming on small or distant targets. The central section can also be illuminated through six brightness settings, improving visibility against dark targets or in changing light conditions.
10-Yard Side Focus
Side focus adjusts from approximately 10 yards to infinity, making the Tauron suitable for a much wider range of shooting distances than many conventional long-range scopes.
High-Capacity 34mm Tube
The robust 34mm main tube provides a large internal adjustment range, including at least 42 MIL of elevation and 29 MIL of windage adjustment.
Combined with precise 1/10 MIL clicks, this gives the shooter ample adjustment for longer-distance shooting, ballistic corrections and inclined scope bases. The larger tube also provides a strong platform for repeated turret adjustment.
Clear, Practical Turret System
The elevation and windage turrets have different functions:
- Elevation turret: Zero stop with revolution indicator
- Windage turret: Locking function
- Click value: 1/10 MIL
The elevation zero stop allows the turret to be returned quickly to its established zero after dialling for distance. The revolution indicator helps the shooter keep track of the turret position when using more than one rotation.
The windage turret locks to help prevent accidental movement during handling, transport or field use.
Important Turret Information
The elevation turret does not have a locking function.
It has a zero stop and revolution indicator, but it remains an exposed, non-locking elevation turret. The windage turret is the only locking turret on this model.
LaREE HD Optical System
Fully multi-coated LaREE HD lenses are designed to provide a sharp, high-contrast image with reduced glare and reflection.
The 44mm objective balances light transmission against overall size, while the 4-16x magnification range offers a broad field of view at lower power and sufficient magnification for precise target identification and shot placement at extended distances.
Best Applications and Users
Precision Air Rifle Shooting
- The 10-yard side focus is a major advantage for air rifle users shooting at typical indoor, garden, benchrest or field distances.
- The fine centre dot and FFP MIL reticle are particularly useful for shooters who regularly compensate for trajectory at different ranges.
Rimfire Target and Pest Control
- The 4-16x magnification range is well suited to .22 LR and other rimfire rifles, providing a useful balance between field of view and precise aiming.
- Close parallax correction also makes it practical for short-range rimfire targets where many conventional centrefire scopes cannot focus correctly.
Mid- to Long-Range Target Shooting
- The 34mm tube, 42 MIL elevation range, 1/10 MIL adjustments, zero stop and FFP reticle make the Tauron particularly suitable for shooters who regularly dial elevation or use MIL-based holdovers.
PRS-Style and Precision Shooting
- The reticle provides a fine aiming point with graduated MIL references for ranging, wind holds and elevation correction. The locking windage turret helps retain the established windage setting while elevation remains immediately accessible for dialling.
Static Hunting and Pest Control
- The scope is also a good option for supported hunting, vermin control and shooting from a hide or fixed position, where its optical performance and precise adjustment are more important than minimum weight.

Does the elevation turret lock?
No. The elevation turret has a zero stop and revolution indicator, but it does not have a locking function.
Which turret locks?
The windage turret locks to prevent accidental movement.
What is the minimum side-focus distance?
The SCFF-79 focuses from approximately 10 yards to infinity. The previous SCFF-45 model was specified from 15 yards.
Is it suitable for an air rifle?
Yes. The 10-yard side focus makes it particularly suitable for precision air rifle and short-range target use. Its weight and 34mm tube should be considered when selecting the rifle and mounting system.
Is it suitable for rimfire rifles?
Yes. The close parallax adjustment, 4-16x magnification and fine MIL reticle make it a strong option for rimfire target shooting and pest control.
Is the reticle first or second focal plane?
It is a first focal plane reticle. The reticle changes apparent size with magnification, keeping its MIL measurements consistent throughout the zoom range.
Is the complete reticle illuminated?
Vector describes the central portion of the VTA-3 MIL reticle as illuminated rather than the entire reticle.
What size mounts are required?
The scope has a 34mm tube and requires compatible 34mm rings or a 34mm one-piece mount.
Are mounts included?
Vector does not list scope rings or a mount among the stated package contents. They should be treated as separately required unless your physical stock confirms otherwise.
What is the zero stop for?
Once correctly set, the zero stop prevents the elevation turret being dialled below the established zero position and provides a quick reference point for returning after elevation adjustments.
What does the revolution indicator do?
It helps show whether the elevation turret has moved into an additional rotation, reducing the risk of becoming one full revolution out when dialling larger corrections.
