In Stock Arken Optics Outrider 2-12x42 SFP Non-IR DLR 0.25MOA 30mm Rifle Scope
The Arken Outrider 2-12x42 SFP DLR pairs premium Japanese HD glass with 90%+ light transmission and a classic Duplex Reticle offering bold outer posts and a fine centre aiming point for a clean, uncluttered sight picture. An ultra-wide 58.8 ft field of view at 2x and forgiving eye box make target acquisition fast, while 0.25 MOA turrets and 100-yard fixed parallax keep things simple. The aircraft-grade aluminium 30mm tube is .50 BMG recoil rated, IP67 waterproof and nitrogen-purged, with a hydrophobic lens coating for wet conditions.
The Outrider is Arken's first all-round hunting scope, bringing the brand's precision engineering to a lightweight, compact platform built for hunters who move. Where Arken made its name on long-range FFP tactical optics, the Outrider series takes a second focal plane approach, keeping the reticle a consistent size and visibility across the full magnification range. The result is a scope that suits mountain hunts, walk-and-stalk, range training and farm predator control equally well.
The 2-12x magnification range is the heart of its versatility. At 2x you get an ultra-wide 58.8 ft field of view at 100 yards for rapid terrain scanning and fast target acquisition, roughly double what a typical 4-12x hunting scope offers at its base setting. Wind it up to 12x and you have the resolution for confident shots at distance. A forgiving eye box and generous 3.5 in eye relief help you find a natural sight picture quickly from offhand or improvised positions.
Optically, the Outrider uses premium Japanese HD glass with super bright, fully multi-coated optics delivering over 90% light transmission, producing a bright, high-contrast image from first light to last. For hunters who prefer a traditional aiming reference, the Duplex Reticle (DLR) delivers classic duplex simplicity , a clean, uncluttered sight picture with bold outer posts that draw the eye inward and a fine centre aiming point for precise shot placement. There's no battery to manage and nothing to switch on, making it the lightest and most affordable option in the Outrider range.
>Parallax is factory set at 100 yards, a deliberate choice that removes the need for side-focus adjustment and keeps your attention on the target when things happen quickly. Turrets are 0.25 MOA per click with 15 MOA per revolution, counter-clockwise rotation, offering 90 MOA of elevation and 80 MOA of windage adjustment. A throw lever base is included for fast magnification changes.
Durability matches the optics. The aircraft-grade aluminium 30mm tube is rated for .50 BMG recoil, IP67 waterproof and dustproof, and nitrogen-purged against internal fogging. A hydrophobic lens coating sheds water and moisture, so sudden showers and damp backcountry mornings won't cost you the sight picture. At 12.1 in long and just 22.4 oz in matte black, it's the lighter of the two Outrider 2-12x42 models and carries easily on any hunting rifle.

Is the reticle in the first or second focal plane?
Second focal plane. The reticle stays the same apparent size at every magnification, so it remains bold and easy to see at 2x and doesn't obscure the target at 12x. The trade-off is that subtension values are only true at one magnification, but as a duplex hunting reticle rather than a ranging reticle, that isn't a practical limitation here.
Why does this scope have fixed parallax? Isn't that a limitation?
It's a deliberate design choice for a mobile hunting optic. Parallax is factory set at 100 yards and paired with a forgiving eye box and large eyepiece, so there's no side-focus dial to think about when a shot presents itself quickly. Within typical hunting distances and magnifications, parallax error is negligible.
What sort of shooting is this scope best suited to?
Mountain and hill hunting, walk-and-stalk, general stalking, farm and vermin control, and range training. The wide 2x field of view suits fast, close work in cover, while 12x gives enough magnification for confident shots at extended stalking distances. It's the lighter, more compact option in the Outrider range for hunters who prioritise mobility.
Will I be able to see the reticle in low light without illumination?
The bold outer posts of a duplex pattern are specifically designed to remain visible as light fades, drawing the eye to the centre without needing power. Combined with over 90% light transmission through the Japanese HD glass, the sight picture stays usable well into dusk. If you routinely shoot right at the edge of legal light or against very dark backgrounds, the illuminated FDR version is the safer choice.
Should I choose the FDR or the DLR version?
Choose the DLR if you want the simplest, lightest and most affordable option and rarely shoot in marginal light. It's 1.4 oz lighter than the FDR and has no battery to think about. Choose the FDR if you regularly shoot at first and last light, in woodland, or against dark backgrounds where an illuminated aiming point genuinely helps.
What calibres can it handle?
It's rated for .50 BMG recoil, so it will comfortably handle anything from a rimfire up through magnum centrefire hunting calibres and heavy-recoiling rifles.
Will it hold zero and track properly?
The turrets adjust in 0.25 MOA clicks with 15 MOA per revolution, giving 90 MOA of elevation and 80 MOA of windage travel. As with any scope, we'd recommend a box test after mounting to confirm tracking on your own rifle.
Does it have a zero stop?
No. The turrets are capped and intended to be set and left rather than dialled frequently, which suits the hunting role this scope is built for. If you want a zero stop and exposed tactical turrets for regular dialling, one of Arken's FFP tactical models would be a better match.
Is it waterproof enough for British weather?
Yes. It's IP67 rated waterproof and dustproof, nitrogen-purged against internal fogging, and the lenses carry a hydrophobic coating that sheds rain and moisture rather than letting it sit and blur the sight picture.
>What rings or mounts do I need?
It has a 30mm main tube, so you'll need 30mm rings or a 30mm one-piece mount. Ring height will depend on your rifle and comb height , the 42mm objective is relatively compact, so low or medium rings usually work well.
What comes in the box?
The scope, a tethered lens cover, sunshade, throw lever base, two turret caps, T8 and T20 Torx wrenches, a lens cleaning cloth, the user manual and two Arken stickers.
