DESCRIPTION

The Arken Outrider 3-18x50 SFP DLR is Arken's first all-round hunting scope, built for hunters who reach further and prefer their aiming reference kept clean and traditional. Arken made its name on high-precision, long-range first focal plane tactical riflescopes; the Outrider takes that engineering and applies it to a lightweight, compact hunting platform ready for mountain hunts, range training and farm predator control alike.

The optical system is built around premium Japanese HD glass with Super Bright Fully Multi-Coated optics, delivering 90%+ light transmission for exceptional twilight performance. Combined with the large 50 mm objective lens, the Outrider holds a bright, high-contrast image from first light to last, even at the top of its 3-18x magnification range, so you spot game earlier and see the detail that matters before you commit to the shot.

The Duplex Reticle (DLR) is for hunters who want a traditional aiming reference with nothing to distract from the target. Bold outer posts draw the eye quickly to the centre, while a fine centre aiming point allows precise shot placement without obscuring the target. Sitting in the second focal plane, the reticle maintains a consistent size across the whole magnification range for an intuitive, predictable sight picture, and with no illumination or battery to manage it is the lighter and more affordable of the two Outrider options.

Focus is handled by an intuitive side-focus parallax wheel that adjusts from 10 yards to infinity, keeping the reticle sharp and the sight picture clear from close-range practice out to distant targets. 0.25 MOA turret adjustments at 15 MOA per revolution, 56 MOA of elevation travel and 48 MOA of windage give you the room to dial confidently for range, all on a familiar 30 mm tube with counter-clockwise rotation.

Out in the field, hydrophobic lens coatings shed water and moisture through sudden showers and damp backcountry mornings, while the aircraft-grade aluminium construction is IP67 waterproof and dustproof, nitrogen-purged fogproof and rated for .50 BMG recoil. Supplied with a sunshade, tethered lens covers, throw lever base and Torx tooling, the Outrider 3-18x50 DLR is ready to mount and go.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION(S)

What defines the Arken Outrider Series, and how does it fit into the Arken range?
Arken is best known for high-precision, long-range first focal plane (FFP) tactical riflescopes. The Outrider Series expands that lineup with a lightweight, compact hunting platform using a second focal plane (SFP) reticle that maintains a consistent size and visibility across all magnifications. It is designed for modern hunters, combining fast target acquisition, reliable precision and all-weather durability in a rugged yet portable package built for demanding outdoor conditions.

Should I choose the 2-12x42 or the 3-18x50?
It depends on your hunting style and typical shooting distance. The Outrider 2-12x42 is the lighter, more compact choice for hunters who prioritise mobility and fast target acquisition, and its wider field of view suits mountain hunting, walk-and-stalk and mobile field use. The 3-18x50 is designed for hunters who need more magnification and precision at distance, with a larger objective lens and adjustable parallax making it better suited to open-country hunting and extended-range work.

What is the difference between the DLR and FDR reticles?
Both are second focal plane duplex reticles designed for fast target acquisition and precise aiming, and the main difference is illumination. The DLR (Duplex Reticle) uses a classic duplex pattern with bold outer posts and a fine centre point, giving a simple and precise sight picture without illumination. The FDR (Fibre Duplex Reticle) adds fibre-optic illumination to the centre aiming point for improved visibility in low light or changing conditions. Choose the DLR if you prioritise a lighter, more affordable optic built around simplicity and value; choose the FDR if you want an illuminated aiming point for low-light work.

Is a non-illuminated reticle a disadvantage in low light?
Not for most hunting situations. The bold outer posts of the duplex pattern remain easy to pick up against a dark background, and the 50 mm objective combined with 90%+ light transmission keeps the image bright well into dusk. If you regularly shoot in the last few minutes of legal light, or against dark quarry in dark cover, the illuminated FDR version is the better choice.

Does the DLR need a battery?
No. The DLR is entirely non-illuminated, so there is no battery to fit, monitor or replace — one less thing to think about before a hunt, and it makes this version slightly lighter than the FDR at 28.2 oz.

Why does the 3-18x50 have adjustable parallax when the 2-12x42 does not?
The 2-12x42 uses a factory-set 100-yard fixed parallax paired with a forgiving eyebox and large eyepiece, prioritising speed and simplicity so hunters can stay on target in fast-moving situations. The 3-18x50 is built for higher magnification and longer ranges, where precise parallax control matters more, so it uses a side-focus wheel that lets you fine-tune focus at any distance from 10 yards to infinity.

Does the 10-yard close focus make it suitable for rimfire or air rifle use?
It does. Dialling parallax right down to 10 yards keeps both reticle and target sharp at close range, so the scope works well for rimfire, air rifle and short-range practice as well as full-bore hunting.

How does the Outrider perform in poor weather?
A hydrophobic lens coating repels water and oil so the sight picture stays clear through rain and damp mornings, and the scope is IP67 waterproof and dustproof as well as nitrogen-purged fogproof. Weather-resistant construction keeps it reliable across changing outdoor conditions.

What rings or mount do I need?
The Outrider uses a 30 mm main tube, so you will need 30 mm rings or a 30 mm one-piece mount. With a 50 mm objective, choose a ring height that clears the barrel and any iron sights while still giving you a comfortable cheek weld.

Does it have a zero stop?
No. The turrets are capped, rotate counter-clockwise, and adjust in 0.25 MOA clicks at 15 MOA per revolution. Two turret caps are supplied to protect your zero in the field.

How much adjustment does it have for long-range shooting?
There is 56 MOA of elevation travel and 48 MOA of windage available — generous for a hunting scope, leaving plenty of room to dial for distance once zeroed.

Is it strong enough for a heavy-recoiling rifle?
Yes. The aircraft-grade aluminium body is .50 BMG recoil rated, so it will comfortably handle magnum hunting calibres.

What comes in the box?
The scope ships with a tethered lens cover, sunshade, throw lever base, two turret caps, T8 and T20 Torx wrenches, a lens cleaning cloth, the user manual and two Arken stickers.
